Rare Fossil Snail from the Eocene Epoch (~40โ50 million years ago)
This specimen is a beautifully preserved Ampullina depressa, an extinct marine gastropod that lived during the Eocene. Measuring around 3โ4 cm, it features the smooth, rounded whorls characteristic of this species.
These snails thrived in warm shallow seas, and their fossils are often found in fine sediment deposits that allowed excellent preservation of shell details. This piece represents not only an elegant natural form but also a glimpse into the marine ecosystems that flourished after the extinction of the dinosaurs.
